How to make sure your internet is working
on your DM box
This uses the Pli
Helenite Image provided to all users. (current software release
is PLi Jade Final) |
|
Ok so here is the scenario ..

I
have great internet it works all the time on my PC or note book
- but does not work on my dream box, why is that? I can see some
channels like DDSPORT but not others?
How do I know if my dream box is working on the internet?
The first thing to do is make sure your set top box is set up
correctly. To do this we go to the network or communications
settings and set it up.
|
 |
press your menu button and you should see something like
this
select
the setup option and press your OK button |
|
If your PC is
working on the Internet it does not follow your set top box is
working on the internet |
|
now
depending on the image you are using press you will see an
option for expert setting (if you do you see expert
settings you will need to select that option) or you will see
this menu if you have the upgraded Helenite image in your DM
Box; |
|
Click on the image to see a bigger
view |
 |
You
will either see (a) Communications settings [if you see this
select it] or (b) on the Helenite image you will see this menu
now select the System Settings option and press the OK
button |
|
If your modem
router is working it does not follow your set top box is working
on the internet as well |
Click on the image to see a
bigger view |
Once
you have selected either communications setting or networks you
should see a menu like or similar to this one;
Note 1: make sure
the network enable option is always on or on older images set to
LAN (if in doubt of your LAN details you can use the power point
presentation on the link below to help you more) If you are lost
just take a note of the details here and select the DHCP
option and then press the green button to save. When you
select this screen again you should note all the data has
changed to the correct details of your LAN.
Note 2: make sure the Domain Name Sever(DNS) and gateway
are always the same number - regardless of what you think the
DNS number should be. (Why well if your ISP changes the DNS
address then your DMxxxx is always locked to that address,
however if you make your DNS the gateway it will always be
updated every time your ADSL/ Dialup connects to your ISP)
Note 3: With all the ISP DNS hacking it may pay to user
the international open name server address of 208.67.222.222
in the short term
How to set this up with your network, find your network details
on a MS Windows XP box a link to power point presentation on this

How do I know if my dream box is working on the internet?
You can always check
it out in real time at time you want to - your box has the tools
built into it. |
|

this is the older menu

This is the Jade menu |
Now you have your local area network set up in your
DMxxxx you have a few other tools to help check you have access
to the internet. These are all under your BLUE button menu on
older software (people who have taken advantage of the free
upgrades to Pli Jade) and
under the Installed PPannels option or the Yellow button
on the new software called Pli Jade.

Press your blue button on the old
software
on the new JADE software press
the YELLOW button
PS:
If you have not upgraded to PLi Jade then send us your box
via EMS and we will do it for you for free (but please put
THB200 in the box for the return EMS to you - our EMS address is
here
http://www.jsat.tv/company.htm ) |
|
If your PC is
working on the Internet it does not follow your set top box is
working on the internet |
|
Now select the Show installed Ppanels Option and press
your OK button and you will see something like this
image.
Make sure you select either of the Managing my DM500
options and once you highlight it press your OK button
|
|
Click on the image to see a bigger
view |
|
Now
select the first option that is already highlighted on the menu
screen, and press your OK button |
|
If your modem
router is working it does not follow your set top box is working
on the internet as well |
|
Now
on this screen that comes up, you will be able to connect right
here to
www.jsat.tv and see
that your internet is really working. To do this simply press
your OK button over the highlighted option and make sure you
read what it says at the bottom of this screen being;NOTE:
if this screen just remains blank then check your internet
connection as it is not working |
|
Click on the image to see a bigger
view |

If
your internet is working you will connect to
www.jsat.tv and
download this screen in real time;
Where it says;
************************************
* Congratulations your internet is *
* working as you just downloaded *
* this file you are reading to *
* your set top box! *
************************************
I am located in Bangkok on the
www.jsat.tv
web site, so to be
reading this file your internet
connection MUST be currently working.
~~ WELL DONE ~~
BUT .. (read this BUT)
This does not mean to say it will
always be like this!
If you can not read me in the future
it means;
[1] Your LAN connection from this box
to your main internet router could
be down
[2] Your ADSL is down
[3] Your ISP is having problems connecting
to us here in Bangkok
[4] Your DNS (domain name server) is
having problems. This is the most
common problem we find. This means
(a) your DNS can not resolve this
address to
www.jsat.tv
or (b) there
is a problem with your ISP resolving
this address at
www.jsat.tv
or (c)
both the above. This can cause your
system to appear to stop working
when your web browser might be working.
So we always use a backup DNS in our
routers of 208.67.222.222 which works
when the Thai DNS's do not.
[5] Something else on your network has the
same IP address as this set top box!
[6] You added another set top box to your
network - a clone maybe?
***************************************
* NO we do not do card sharing period *
* This file is from the web site at *
* www.jsat.tv
so go figure *
* and this is not card sharing it is *
* making full use of your DreamBox *
*************************************** |

How do I know if my dream box is working on
my Local Area
Network?
You can always check
it out in real time at time you want to - your box has the tools
built into it. |
|
|
Can you open your web browser (IE Exporer / Firefox) to
your set top box?
http://192.168.1.201
or the same IP address you have in the network set up screen shown above?

If you can not do this then it means there is no
LOCAL AREA NETWORK or LAN connection from your PC to your set
top box. If the LAN connection is not working then your Internet
or WAN (WIDE AREA NETWORK) connection will not work either.
So
check
1. Your LAN cables are plugged into the DM
box 100%
2. You LAN cable is plugged into the HUB/Router or
Wifi access point and the light for the LAN cable is showing
3. Check you modem router is connected to the internet
(only you will know what lights are or are not shown when it is
connected) - if in doubt, power OFF and power ON your modem
router
|
|
Ping your set top box to make sure it is working
to do this;
1. Press the Windows button and then the letter
R on your keyboard
2. Type in CMD and press enter
3. And now type ping <IPOFYOURDMBOX> and then
press the [enter] key
Your will find the IP address of your DM box in the network set up
screen as shown above
Here is an example of it working
If you can not do
this PING then it means there is no LOCAL AREA NETWORK or LAN
connection from your PC to your set top box. If the LAN
connection is not working then your Internet or WAN (WIDE AREA
NETWORK) connection will not work either. So check out the two
options above and make sure you see the lights on your modem
router or HUB to ensure your LAN cable is really plugged into
it.

general disclaimer:
JSAT.tv does not provide any form of card sharing /cracking or
other services - period. So for gods sake stop guessing and do
not confuse what services via the internet these boxes will do
by simply guessing what they will do. |
